We can't stress how beautiful things look in the early mornings. Here are some pics we were able to take of the Duomo (Santa Maria del Fiore) before large crowds:









We made our way to the Accademia, the home of Michaelangelo's David. Here are some other works in the gallery:

Right beside the Accademia is the Luigi Cherubini music conservatory. Gary sang Cherubini's Requiem with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra Choir: 


We still wandered throughout Florence and ate gelato. We can not overstate the amount of gelato we consumed on this trip and gelato's importance on this trip (serious business). Because it is so good, it was very, very hard for us to get a proper picture. This is inside Palazzo Vecchio:




Later that afternoon, we had reservations for the Uffizi Gallery. Here are some of the works in the gallery:








For dinner, we ate at Ristorante la Cupola, where we had a cafe normale (espresso) and pistachio cannoli for dessert:
