Siena, September 15th

We encountered rainy weather for the first time on the vacation. We also had a very typical Italian train situation. Our first train was late leaving the station, so we missed our connecting train. We simply hopped on the next connection and made our way to Siena.

We had to wait to check in to our AirB&B, so we hung out at the shopping area attached to the train station. We took advantage of PAM (a large grocery store in the shopping center) to gather some supplies.

We had a crazy situation with the line for taxis. Brits have a reputation of knowing how to queue, but we Yanks had to get it sorted and school them on it đŸ˜€. Getting a taxi took longer we would have liked, but we really enjoyed using the time to meet new people.

We had an amazing Tuscan dinner (best on trip, so far). The view from our table at  dinner was breathtaking. This was followed by wonderful gelato at La Vecchia Latteria. The gelato was a VERY close 2nd to the gelato in Rome at Gelateria S.M. Maggiore.

The day ended at Piazza del Campo, where they have the famous Siena Palio horse race. While at the Piazza del Campo, we met a couple who were on their honeymoon from Ohio. Siena is truly gorgeous.
